Pittsburgh Steelers 2018 NFL Mock Draft Roundup, Vol. 1

The leadership of the National Football League disclosed Monday afternoon a new broadcast agreement where the NFL Network and FOX will team up to simulcast live coverage of Rounds 1-3 of the 2018 NFL Draft. The festival of talent selection is Thursday, April 26 to Saturday, April 28 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Who could be on the minds of the scouts and coaches at 3400 South Water Street in the Burgh? Here is a mock draft roundup of those the Pittsburgh Steelers might take when they are on the clock.

Brent Sobleski at Bleacher Report likes Alabama safety Ronnie Harrison, a 6-foot-3, 214-pound junior, at No. 28 for the Black and Gold. Some feel he owns good makeup speed and finds the time to read the eyes of the quarterback.

Ryan Wilson from joins the defensive back trend with his projection of 6-foot-1, 202-pound junior safety Justin Reid from Stanford on Pittsburgh’s draft card. He is viewed as a reliable wrap and drag tackler.

Jacob Infante of DraftWire, part of, projects a different linebacker for the Black and Gold with Alabama’s Rashaan Evans. The 6-foot-3, 234-pound senior linebacker is seen as an effective blitzer and harsh hitter.

Fansided‘s Conor Dorney breaks away with the idea of helping out the Steelers’ offense. His prognostication is Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph to be the future replacement for Ben Roethlisberger. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior put up nearly 5,000 yards and 37 touchdowns in 2017.

Wayne Staats at keeps with the theme of rebuilding the defense as he has the Steelers choosing Texas linebacker Malik Jefferson. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound junior has excellent range and plenty of upside for the pro game.

Albert Breer of forecasts Boise State linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound junior, who has the athleticism to fit Keith Butler’s system.

Walter Cherepinsky at put together a recent update to his site’s choices, and his estimate is the same as Breer’s, your next defender is Vander Esch.
