SCHLAGGER’S SLANT, Week 6 Fantasy Football

SCHLAGGER’s Slant Week 6
Every Thursday during the NFL fantasy season, I will give you an in depth look at the week ahead. This article will focus on a few targets and values on both Draftkings (DK) and Fanduel (FD). At the end of the article, I will list players that will be in my cash game lineups on DK. Quick disclaimer: Cash games are 50/50’s where the top half of the entries cash and head to heads against other users. GPP’s are big tournaments where about 20% of the entries cash and have huge payouts for 1st place.

Note: This will be for the Sunday Main Slate. Not including Thursday Night and Monday Night Football.

Quarterbacks:

Cam Newton (8100 on DK): All reports say that Cam is expected to play this weekend. If you can pay top dollar for a QB this week, Cam is your guy. He has one of those dream matchups against the pathetic Saints defense. The game is in New Orleans, which some DFS experts now call the Coors Field of football. I will admit coming off a concussion does scare me but if I have the money I’m playing Cam. The salary cap on DK seems a little tight this week so it may be hard to get there, but on Sunday morning I will work hard to have Cam in cash games.

Russell Wilson (6900 on DK): QB’s playing against NFC south defenses usually result in perfect matchups for them. Wilson had the bye to get healthy and I love the matchup against the Falcons who are rated 31st in the NFL against the pass. With Wilson’s running ability to get him under 7k is a price that is too hard to pass up. Like I mentioned earlier, the cap on DK is tight so you may need to go even cheaper at QB to fit everyone you want in your lineup. I hope I can get to either Newton or Wilson in cash games this weekend.

Running backs:

Le’Veon Bell (7900 on DK): We discuss this situation weekly. Which Steelers offensive weapon are we going to roster this week? I think this week it’s Bell. I rarely say this but he is safer than Antonio Brown this week. The Dolphins are middle of the pack in the NFL against the pass and the run but Bell is so deadly in the pass game. On a site like DK, where it is PPR I think 7900 is just too cheap for him. Brown’s price is up to 10k and to me that is a guy I just can’t afford in cash games.

Theo Riddick (5300 on DK): Riddick is interesting this week solely because of how involved he is in the pass game. I think he is a little expensive. I wish he was $4800, but Riddick is still in play. I love that he gets 7-8 targets per game and 11-13 carries were game. If he gets 20 total touches in this game he will easily hit value. Rams are coming off a terrible performance against Shady McCoy last week. Lions signed Justin Forsett this week, which does scare me a little, but I think Riddick’s usage is set in the Lions offense.

Wide Receivers:

Jarvis Landry (6800 on DK): He let down tons of people last week in cash games, because he had an ideal matchup. This week he has the Steelers in a game where they are expected to be losing according to Vegas. I can see a 15 target game for Landry this week and at least 8 receptions off those targets. He is a low aDOT (average depth per target) player but getting that much volume in a game is something you have to love. Steelers struggle to defend WR’s in general, and the garbage time he will have in the 4th quarter will lead him to easily hit value.

Sammie Coates (4700 on DK): Coates is another player in the Dolphins/Steelers game this week. He is coming off a huge game last week and it could have been even bigger without some of the drops. There is a report out that he has a cast on his hand so there is serious injury concern here. If he is active Sunday, he has to be in cash lineups based on his price. The last two weeks he has seen 8 and 11 targets and that much volume at $4700 makes him an excellent play this week on Draftkings.

Tight Ends:

Jason Witten (4200 on DK): I’d love to write up Greg Olsen but there is just no way you can fit him in cash lineups this week. Witten continues to be the security blanket for Dak Prescott, which means he gets 6-7 targets per game. I don’t love the volume, but as I continue to discuss every week it is difficult to find a TE I love after the top options. This week looks like a week I will “punt” the TE position with someone super cheap.

Charles Clay (2900 on DK): Here’s the cheap TE I am looking at this week. Clay is coming off two games where he got five passes and this week he plays the pathetic 49ers defense. I don’t love rostering Clay, but at just $2900 he seems like a guy who should get 9-10 points and that is all he needs to hit value at his $2900 price tag.

Defense:

Bills (3900 on DK): This seems way too pricey for a defense that is very average, but they have one of the best matchups this weekend. They are facing Colin Kaepernick, who will be making his first start of the season in a Chip Kelly offense. I like Chip Kelly more than most but I’m not sure there is a NFL coach who can make Kaepernick good. The Bills are much better at home and they are a prime defense to get a defensive touchdown this week.

Titans (3300 on DK): Another week that we get to pick on the Cleveland Browns. Listen, the Browns are absolutely terrible, and we roster defenses against the Browns. This may be coming to an end though if Josh McCown comes back, but this week it will be Cody Kessler. If you need to save some salary cap, I’d plug in the Titans and move on.

Guys I’m most likely to have in Draftkings cash games: (No Order)

QB: Cam Newton, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Marcus Mariota
RB: Le’Veon Bell, Jordan Howard, Theo Riddick, LeSean McCoy, Christine Michael, James White
WR: Jarvis Landry, Antonio Brown, Sammie Coates, Julian Edelman, Jeremy Maclin, Willie Snead, Cam Meredith
TE: Jason Witten, Charles Clay, Martellus Bennett, Jimmy Graham
D: Bills, Titans, Giants,
